1945, German sub (U 858) surrenders to the U.S. Navy during and is taken to the United States.
When the boat arrives four days later, USS Pillsbury (DE 133) and USS Pope (DE 134) take over the boat, place a US Navy crew on board, and remove one-half of her German crew including three of her four officers. (U 858) is later scuttled off the coast of New England during torpedo trials.
