-The Warrior is the British Army’s Infantry Fighting Vehicle, as used by Armoured Infantry Battalions. It was produced in a number of versions and this is the rarest, an FV515 Royal Artillery Battery Command Vehicle. Out of 789 Warriors, just 19 were ‘515s’.
The commander of an artillery battery didn’t need a self-propelled gun of his own, but he did need an armoured vehicle with good mobility and space for radios and specialist equipment, which Warrior provided. To free up more space, the gun is a dummy.
A small number of Warrior 515s were converted to ambulances for use in Afghanistan.
